The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root Yuj which means to join or unite or join. According to Yoga Puranic texts, by doing Yoga regularly, a person’s consciousness gets connected to the consciousness of the universe, which is a relationship of perfect harmony between mind and body, human and nature. According to modern scientists, everything in the universe is just a manifestation of the same sky. Anyone who realizes this existential unity is said to be situated in Yoga and is called a Yogi. One who has attained the liberated state through Yoga is called Mukti, Nirvana or Moksha. Thus, the goal of yoga is self-realization, relief from all kinds of mental and physical diseases and sufferings, thereby attaining the state of moksha or the state of emptiness. Controlling the mind in every area of life and living a life with freedom, health and harmony are possible only with the benefits of doing yoga.
