Traditional Martial Arts Traditional martial arts is an ancient form of warfare which involves various methods and techniques for fighting, defending oneself and attacking. It involves physical, mental and spiritual disciplines that help practitioners develop strength and skills. Martial arts style can vary greatly in terms of the types of weapons or equipments used (including punches, kicks, elbows, knees and swords). Martial arts self-defense was created based on the cultural needs of the areas in which a given technique or practice session is involved. Generally speaking, all martial arts styles have had the same objective of self-improvement through physical training incorporating elements of personal discipline. Martial arts was originated from different parts of the world and are believed to have been practiced since 5,000 years ago in ancient Greece. It has evolved over the centuries and many different styles have developed depending on the region or culture in which it was practiced. The most popular of the martial arts today come from the ancient Indian martial arts of East Asia, including Russia, Japan, Korea, and China, while other popular forms originated from Southeast Asia, including the Kalaripayattu martial art created by the Indian warrior Parashurama. Asia is considered to be the center of the world of martial arts, because many major martial arts like Kung Fu, Karate and martial arts originated from this region. Martial arts over the years have been shaped by a culmination of factors ranging from ancient myths and legends to historical revolutions. Since the beginning of time, different cultures have developed fighting styles for survival, but it is the Chinese martial arts that has endured and flourished more than any other country. Martial arts evolved with the development of human physiology and in the modern era it is recognized as the Buddhist Kung Fu Federation of India. And today’s youth is being benefited by training in sports, modern and traditional Kung Fu martial arts.
